It’s all about mastering the 26 original patterns that were put together by the N.A.R.D (National Association of Rudimental Drummers) back in 1933. These were separated into 13 essential and 13 auxiliary Rudiments.

Additional clarifications:
Notation with Dash on Top = Flams
Normal Notehead = accent
Small Notehead = non accent
