One beat, various grooves – Felix Lehrmann shows how to create various sound characteristics by utilizing a basic beat. The topics covered are: to play On Top Of The Beat, Laid Back, Behind The Beat and playing In Front Of The Beat. Felix demonstrates how to create tension between snare and hi-hat and how to use ghost notes for various musical styles to create grooves and dynamics and add some flavour to your rhythms without any effort. Learn how to divide a song into “song chapters”. Furthermore, he dedicates a whole lesson to the hi-hat to demonstrate how to dramatically influence a rhythm through changing the hi-hat. Combined with ghost notes, this results in a completely different groove. Last but not least some tailored exercise units round off this course.

This was an easy course to finish as it involves just watching the short videos where you will learn some basic concepts associated with groove playing to a click track and with other musicians. Felix is an engaging instructor and he was fun to watch.
