APRIL 01, 2019

A look behind the scenes:
Since April 1st we have a very special highlight for you: “The Complete Guide For Drumtuning” with Rossi Roßberg.
You have never heard the name of Rossi Roßberg? We can’t believe it. Let’s change this immediately, since Rossi is really a big shot in the drummer scene, without being known for drumming itself. Rossi Roßberg is a master of his class in drumtuning, such as the horse whisperer for drumsets. He is mainly known as the drumtuner for Christoph Schneider of Rammstein. His spectrum is huge and not only heavy metal bands rely on Rossi’s sense for perfect drum sound, but also pop stars like Nena, Silbermond or Revolverheld already had their drums tuned by his magic hands.
Is he also playing the drums? Yes, sure. But from the beginning his passion was screwing and not only playing. Therefore he now is what he is – the drumtech Guru per se. And since he now aims to do more for drumtuning, he shares his knowledge with you in our new series. In 5 episodes he tells you many of his secrets and makes you fit in tuning and getting the same good sound as you know it from the radio.
The shooting for our new series was a real challenge, for it is our aim to show you how different drumsets can sound with different tunings. Therefore we first had to face a huge battle of material. There are drums in multiple versions and in different sizes from different manufacturers (DW and Gretsch). In addition to that numerous drum heads.
Since Rossi Roßberg closely works together with GEWA Music, GEWA offered us a spot for the shooting and the comparative videos in their studios. So we drove to Adorf in Thuringia and started the setting. We do not understate when we are saying that we worked up a sweat in setting the scenery, light, tone and camera properly.
And then we got down to business – alternately shooting of the course and shooting of the comparative videos. In the comparative videos for example, the snare had to be covered with different heads. These had to be brought into the same tuning in order to record it identically. The blisters on our fingers were surely worth it, for we are proud of the result and the first episode that goes online today.
The good atmosphere in the studio made it easy for us, since Rossi is an entertaining and quick-witted guy with a dry humor and always a funny joke on his lips. And we were always amazed when he opened his suitcase with all kinds of curiosities for drumtuning.
What is inside the suitcase?
We surely tell you that little by little in all the episodes of our new course which will be published as follows:
